Laptimus Prime? – Toshiba’s Red Transformer

Ah when I was a lad back in the 80’s, a TV series tied heavily into selling toys to kids was hugely popular. Entitled Transformers, the show followed the exploits of autobot Optimus Prime and his battle against the incorrigible leader of the Decepticons – Megatron.

Optimus Prime, the main protagonist of the series could transform into a truck, but why oh why couldn’t anyone create Laptimus Prime? – A nifty transformer that could change into a laptop? – (Editor shakes head in disgust.)

Well designer Yves Béhar in collaboration with Toshiba has probably done the next best thing, by creating the snazzy “Red Transformer Laptop”. Ok it doesn’t change into a robot, but it does transform into a home entertainment centre. Other features include a 17 inch flat screen display, detachable keyboard, and removable remote control – all integrated within an eye-catching design, complete with fiery red enamel coating.

Availability and pricing for Toshiba’s Red Transformer Laptop has yet to be announced.
