Nvidia Offering Direct Driver Updates For Notebooks
Not content to to simply make a splash in the netbook world, Nvidia has announced downloadable graphics drivers for notebooks from its website for the first time ever. Laptop users with Nvdia graphics cards can download the new drivers immediately.
If you use a GeForce 8 or 9 series GPU or a Quadro NVS-equipped notebook, you can now download a beta version of the drivers straight from Nvidia’s website. The full release will be available sometime early next year.
From Nvidia: “Users with notebooks equipped with Nvidia graphics processing units (GPUs) now have the added flexibility of downloading upgradeable graphics drivers directly from Nvidia.com so they can immediately take advantage of new features, improved application compatibility, and performance optimizations.”
This will extend the CUDA architecture to notebook GPUs, and make the process of downloading the drivers much easier for consumers. A new graphical world awaits for many laptop users who may never have bothered to seek out the drivers before.
