Dell Finally Launches Inspiron Mini Netbook

Dell has launched the much anticipated Inspiron Mini 9, their step into the Netbook market.

The Inspiron Mini 9 is available for purchase, and sports an 8.9 inch display in a 2.2lbs body.

The first round of Inspiron Mini 9’s to go out will be loaded with Windows XP, with an option for Ubuntu later this month.

The starting price for the Linux unit is $349, while the Windows XP version has a starting price of $399.

The Linux version will run off a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor with a 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB SSD and 512MB of RAM. A 0.3 megapixel camera can be added for $15, or a 1.3 megapixel for $25.

The Windows version is the same, except that it comes with a 0.3 megapixel webcam.

The unit will come with a 4-cell battery, and a team up with Box.net gives consumers 2GB of free online storage space.
