Dell Adamo Stalled Until Mid-2009
Dell’s highly acclaimed and highly mysterious Adamo might not be entering mass production until the second half of 2009. This isn’t the first Adamo delay we’ve seen, and our fingers are crossed that it will be the last.
Dell’s Adamo, the svelte 13″ would-be competitor to the MacBook Air, seems to have hit another snag in development and won’t be seeing broad production start for months. Reports have indicated that Foxconn landed the production gig and is working on sample production right now, with mass production scheduled for mid-2009. Foxconn has denied any knowledge of the orders, and this report flies in the face of earlier reports that the Adamo would be out in February as well as Dell’s CES claim to release them “in the first half of 2009”. We’d forgotten that we’d crossed our fingers for the February release as well – maybe we’d better think of a better way to make Dell release their laptops faster.
There is still little factual information about the Adamo (even after a CES demonstration), aside from the fact that it looks pretty darned cool, but there is a strong hope that these delays will be compensated by some pretty impressive internals. Can’t be too sure though, and it looks like we’re going to have to wait a while to find out.
